Each AfriCamps tent (55 square metres) consists of an outdoor wood-fired hot tub or splash pool, a spacious open plan lounge area with a couch, a dining area with solid wooden table and seating for 5 guests, a fully-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms which comfortably sleeps 5 guests and a bathroom complete with hot shower, flushing toilet and washbasin.
Both bedrooms are furnished with a queen size bed and have their own private entrance which allows maximum privacy. One of the bedrooms also contains a single bunk bed. Our tents are equipped with air-conditioning and an indoor fireplace.
Enjoy a braai on our spacious wooden decks and take in the views from the comfortable deck loungers. Pull up the front covers and transform the tent into a large outdoor living area. Unwind and appreciate a festive family breakfast while taking in the serene natural beauty of the South African Lowveld. Travel tip: For longer stays, an additional cooler box will come in very handy to keep your food and drinks cold. Ice is available to purchase from the camp.
AfriCamps at Hoedspruit in Limpopo is perfectly situated for your Lowveld safari, between Kruger National Park and the Blyde River Canyon. The area is famous for its close vicinity to wildlife and game reserves, cultural heritage, beautiful landscapes and, to top it all off, SA’s most beautiful weather.
Property and Facilities
- All 11 tents surround the Klaserie dam popular among guests for fishing of Carp, Bass, Bream, and Barbel.
- The camp has a lovely pool area for the whole family to enjoy on sunny days.
- Each tent has a private outdoor wood-fired hot tub or splash pool that overlooks the dam.
- There are Game drives to Kruger National Park depart from the camp; so too Panorama tours.

Check-in – from 14:00 – 17:00 on day of arrival
As prior arrangements need to be made, guests are kindly requested to inform the specific AfriCamps host of their estimated time of arrival. This way you are ensured that the check-in can be arranged without delays. You will receive the host’s telephone number in your booking confirmation email. For check-in after 5pm please call the hosts at least 30 minutes in advance to make arrangements.
Check-out – before 10am on day of departure
Please note: Hoedspruit is in a moderate-risk malaria area. Please consult your doctor to advise about the use of anti-malarial medication. If you plan to overnight in the Kruger Park, it is recommended that you take preventative measures.
Shop – You will be able to purchase essential like wood, firelighters, and ice from your hosts between 08:00 and 17:00. Alternatively, you can contact them for assistance.
Bar – There is a bar at the pool area where you can buy a selection of drinks. Please speak to your host on arrival regarding bar hours.
Travel Tip: For longer stays, it is advised to bring an extra cooler box to keep food and drinks cold, especially if guests bring their own food. Ice is available to purchase at the camp. Breakfast an braai baskets are available to pre-order.
ACTIVITIES ON OUR FARM
This AfriCamps location is perfect for avid fishermen as all 11 tents are located on the dam. This spot has been a favourite among local fishermen for years and you can catch Carp, Bass, Bream, and Barbel typically weighing 10kgs!
Please note the following important fishing rules – we love our fish!
Carp Fishing: Only specimen anglers with correct fishing gear are allowed to fish carp. Fishing is strictly catch-and-release, no fish are allowed to be kept in kepnet. Unhooking mat compulsory and available at the camp. Weight slings only – no lip grippers are allowed. Guests are only allowed to fish carp with one hook and 1 swivel. The minimum line capacity is 15lb / 6.8kg. Carp should be handled in the water only, using an unhooking mat and landing net. No holding fish in gills. No breaking off. No carp sacks allowed. No uncooked or dry bait allowed.
Bass, Bream, Barbell Fishing: All fish are catch and release. Please handle the fish respectfully. No throwing of fish, please release in the water safely.

Go for a dip at the camp pool or unwind with a drink while watching from the poolside.
Guests are welcome to use the dam for rowing – the perfect place to angle from. Please bring your own canoes or kayaks and oars.
For the kids
Guests are welcome to bring bicycles for the kids. The kids love cycling around the camp. Take the kids to see how the game is fed! Feeding of game takes place between 17:00 and 18:00 daily.
